Working 9-5

Today has been mostly about work. I work 9-5 Monday to Friday for the national disability charity Scope – www.scope.org.uk I started there after my graduation in the Human Resources department. I spent 1 year doing admin recruiting new shop managers and support workers.

Then I took the big move to London, out of my family home (which I’ll explain the practical difficulties of another day). For 6 further months I worked in HR but around training Scope employees in diversity. This is when I became a trainer too. But I knew I wanted to use my Marketing knowledge from my Masters and landed my role in fundraising last March. Since I have continued my training, through starting the street and door to door campaigns. Basically I train the new fundraisers for 2 hours on disability, social model and Scope. This essentially raises Scope money by recruiting people for monthly donations.

Today I have finished off a telemarketing campaign, continued the running of our street and door campaigns as well as a meeting with 4 other charities. In this consortia we receive monthly donations but through peoples pay, not direct debit. As we are 5 charities together the donors money supports more people

Feeling very tired after a busy weekend I still managed to drag myself to the pub to meet my mum, step dad, sister and her boyfriend Chris. Really nice they came to visit and had great grub in Stoke Newington. Tomorrow is an afternoon meeting on the Southbank followed by a drink with a friend from primary school… night for now!
